The position shall have duties as assigned by the Director of Assessing. The general areas of duties to be performed are providing customer service to taxpayers and the general public and assisting them in filing for abatements and exemptions; assisting in the review of property ownership records forwarded from the Registry of Deeds, and the managing of those records; handling of non-ownership records and filings, including the printing of new forms, mailing of new forms, filings of filed forms, etc.; assisting in the processing of adjustments, abatements and exemptions to assessed; and undertaking research and compiling data as directed by the Director of Assessing.
Requirements The ability to develop a working knowledge of the Massachusetts General Laws as they pertain to the assessment of motor vehicle excise taxes, as well as the assessment, abatement and exemption of property taxes; basic knowledge and understanding of real property records; the ability to respectfully interact with the general public in addressing their business with the department. Bilingual/bicultural candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
