Job Title

Mass in Motion Program Coordinator

Salary $27 per hour, maximum of 25 hours per week

Eligible for city health, dental, and life insurance


The City of Lynn is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Mass in Motion Program with strong leadership, policy and communication abilities, and with the skill, vision and innovation to organize community partners to implement strategies designed to change dietary and exercise patterns of residents in Lynn. The Coordinator will be the ambassador for the City for nutrition and physical activity, and will establish highly effective working relationships with elected officials, City and school department heads, community partners and residents. The Coordinator will oversee all program aspects of Lynn’s Mass in Motion grant.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and promote integration of existing efforts to improve active living and healthy eating activities by City departments and partnering community organizations.
  • Develop and maintain community contacts and relationships to maximize collaborative efforts to advance active living and healthy eating in Lynn.
  • Attend state-wide meetings/conferences and participate in webinars as identified by the funders, Partners Healthcare, the MA Department of Public Health, the staff of Health Resources in Action (HRiA), and the Lynn Public Health Department.
  • Supervise volunteers involved in Lynn’s Healthy Eating & Active Living activities.
  • Work closely with the MA Department of Public Health, and HRiA evaluation staff to implement, collect, and report on all evaluative activities associated with the work plan.
  • Coordinate special projects or events as needed to accomplish the scope of work as identified.
  • Additional duties, consistent with the grant award, as assigned by the Director of Public Health and Public Health Coordinator.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in the field of public health and wellness and/or planning; Effective written and oral communication skills; Experience coordinating multiple partners in accomplishing community goals; Excellent written and oral skills; Experience grant writing; Possess the knowledge and experience necessary to administer the program and participation in the Mass In Motion Initiative; Experience managing grant reporting; Experience working with city officials to manage budget and evaluation activities; Experience establishing and implementing policy initiatives; Knowledge of media relations and event planning, strongly preferred. Bilingual/bicultural applicants strongly encouraged to apply. Working knowledge of the Lynn community strongly preferred.

Hours and Term of Service

Flexible, including evenings and weekends as needed.
